点评:We knew the weather was going to be bad, but we had no choice as this was our last day in the area. Yesterday we saw the Brazilian side in the sunshine, and HAD to see both sides.
The Garganta del Diabolo trail is currently closed (due to flood damage) and possibly for that reason, it was much cheaper to get into the park than we expected- $20,000 ARG for adults and $10,000 for under 16s. Unlike the Brazilian side, USDs couldn’t be used - it was either ARG pesos or a Mastercard/Amex card.
Two trails are open - the lower circuit (not suitable for pushchairs/wheelchairs due to steps along the way) and the superior circuit (suitable, and wheelchairs seem to be available for free).
The two sides are so different and, in the pouring rain with the odd flash of lightning and roll of thunder, we had the trails largely to ourselves!
On the ARG side you feel more in the thick of the jungle, walking along metal walkways that cross channels, tops of waterfalls and through jungle without making much of an impact on the environment. You feel like you are really part of it - we even saw birds flitting into the falls to catch fish, and others fishing right on top of the falls.
The office signs say the lower trail will take 90 minutes and the upper trail 120 minutes. We were a lot faster so I can only assume that’s when a lot of people are about.
We didn’t have rainbows and gorgeous blue skies, but we saw a different view with very few people around. DON’T FORGET YOUR RAIN PONCHO!

Garganta del Diabolo
