A Lovely Experience, But Missing the Magic We Remembered

点评：After visiting on opening day during our last trip to Rovaniemi, we enjoyed the experience so much that we booked to return during this short visit. Unfortunately, while it was still enjoyable, it just didn't feel quite as magical this time around.
I'm not sure whether it was the lack of snow or the fact that there seemed to be a large number of complimentary ticket holders on the day, but the atmosphere was noticeably different. During our first visit, there were elves outside welcoming guests and interacting with children, which was fantastic. They spent time chatting with our daughter and really helped bring the magic to life.
One of the biggest differences for us was the interaction from the elves throughout the attraction. During our 2024 visit, there were elves constantly walking around chatting to children, playing games and keeping families entertained while queuing. As there is quite a lot of waiting throughout the experience, these interactions made a huge difference and really brought the magic to life. Our daughter absolutely loved them, and it felt as though there was always something happening around us.
This time, however, we hardly saw any roaming elves at all. A few passed through the queues, but none stopped to interact with the children. The only real interaction our daughter had was from the elves who welcomed her to meet Santa, and they were lovely. It was a stark contrast to our previous visit, where the engagement felt constant throughout the experience. It's such a shame, as those personal touches were one of the standout memories from our first visit and a big reason we chose to return.
The show was very similar to last year's, although it was noticeably shorter. During our previous visit there were additional acts, including an elf on a unicycle when Santa made his appearance, which added to the excitement. The Elf School was largely unchanged, although crowd management was better this time. Unfortunately, on both visits there were adults pushing past children to get to the front, which was disappointing. In the first room especially, many children struggled to see the elf because of the crowd.
We paid over €200 on each visit, including the gingerbread-making experience and lunch. The gingerbread activity was wonderful both times, and the food was delicious. However, the drinks pricing felt excessive, with a 330ml can of soda costing more than €6.
We also visited Santa on both occasions and received a lovely teddy bear and photo package. This year, however, the visit felt much more rushed, and less personable which took away some of the magic.
Overall, our daughter thoroughly enjoyed both visits, and there is still plenty to like about the experience. However, we returned because of the fantastic memories we made in 2024, and sadly this visit didn't quite live up to those expectations. It remains a lovely attraction, but the magical elf interactions, extra entertainment and more personal feel that made our first visit so special were missing this time. I'm glad we came back and experienced it again, but it's probably not somewhere we would choose to visit for a third time.
Such a shame as last time we would have definitely gave it 5 stars, and I’ve added pictures from both visits.
