点评：We were searching for a genuine, local Tanzanian operator that was fairly priced. Since this was a once in a lifetime trip, we wanted to avoid any last minute surprises or issues, so going directly to a local team felt like the best choice.
We were a group of four friends, and we had three incredible guides: Juma, Alfa, and Stanley. They were always looking out for us. Because our group would sometimes stretch out due to different walking speeds, having three guides was fantastic. We also had around sixteen porters who were helpful, welcoming, and always ready to solve any issue. Hats off to every single one of them.
We are vegetarian, so I was a little skeptical about the meals beforehand. However, our cook, who jokingly called himself the food scientist, was awesome. He served delicious meals every single day, and knowing we were well fed gave us complete peace of mind.
The team logistics were unreal. Every morning when we started hiking, our tents were still standing, yet by the time we reached the next camp, everything was already fully set up. They moved like flash lightning up the mountain.
Eric, the owner, was our main point of contact. He was never pushy during the planning process, which is ultimately why I chose to book with his company. He was detailed, transparent, and arranged everything smoothly. Our package included private SUV transfers to and from Nairobi, which saved us the hassle of buses or changing cars. He even provided a hotel room for a couple of hours on our last day so we could clean up before heading back to Nairobi.
Safety was clearly a top priority, as they checked our blood oxygen levels twice daily. When we were exhausted on the trail, the guides would carry our backpacks and sing Jambo Bwana to lift our spirits. To top it all off, one of our friends had a birthday on the day we descended, and Eric arranged a small celebration for him. It was a deeply touching moment that my friend will never forget.
Juma was a huge Shah Rukh Khan fan and actually knew most of his famous songs by heart. Having him along made the whole trek so much fun and kept everyone entertained.
