Murmansk English Guide的点评

Me and my partner recently completed a 5N 6D trip at Murmansk in Dec 23. We stayed at Azimut hotel, which is supposedly the best in town, followed by Meridian.
The trip was organised by Mr Dimitrii of Murmansk English Guides, whom I contacted via Trip advisor. Our guide was Vadim, who is an experienced and amazing person. Our trip turned out to be an exceptional experience all thanks to the substantial personal interest and efforts made by Vadim.
Trip inclusions consisted of pick up and drop to airport, city tour, one day trip to Teriberka fishing village and Lovozero Husky farm and one night hunt for Aurora Borealis ( Northern lights).
All these excursions are completely worth it and the arrangements made by Guide for us were excellent. Special mention about the great restaurants and delicious vegetarian meals arranged at Novozero and Teriberka. Guide and his teammates Andrey and Yaroslav, are experts in locating Aurora and provided professional photos for treasuring the memories.
Our Guide paid personal attention to our requirements and comfort. Pertinent to mention is the detour he took to show us the huge Balaz truck and on the way, Borealis hunted us! We saw the Aurora for the second time at 1800, without searching it, which was better than the first time!
Quick tips for the benefit of fellow travellers (as found in all my other reviews). Region is unimaginably COLD, -28 deg and below! Even before you land in Russia (at Moscow/ Petersburg), make sure that you have atleast one full set of specialised clothes/ gear to protect you from hair to toes (mountaineering grade) which can withstand -30 deg. DONT THINK OF BUYING EVERYTHING AFTER LANDING IN RUSSIA. Further, speak with your guide before planning the trip and only after that, make bookings for stay and travel. Confirm the type, age and internal/ external conditions of vehicle (and fatigue of driver) as terrain and drive are tough. We did not opt for the floating in frozen sea trip, as drive was extensive. Souvenirs are good & decently priced at airport. Finally, Northern lights look slightly better in pics as compared to the eyes, you can Google to understand it better. Also the quality of sighting the aurora is subject to various weather conditions, which will be well taken care of by your guide. just keep moderate and realistic expectations, take precautions against cold and you will thoroughly enjoy every aspect of it.
