Great introduction in to the variety of Oaxacan wildlife

点评：Our first day in Oaxaca we did a bird tour with Roque, he picked us up at 0600 on time and drove us towards the Benito Juárez trail. We started in the lower areas and the variety of birds was mine boggling. We stood still for 30 minutes and the different birds that popped up and went about their day was unbelievable.
As others have said, Roque's knowledge of the landscape, birds (sound and sight) and Oaxaca/Mexico makes him a well rounded guide for the day. Most of all he is flexible, my partner and I were particularly interested in photography and he was great advising where the good windows were.
We had an early lunch which was delicious, and headed up in to the Highlands across some of the ridges. We had a great encounter with a red warbler which was beautiful. Roque was really good at seeing when there was little bird activity and choosing when to move on.
Bizarrely, we did come across a snake (albeit a tiny one), even Roque wasn't too keen on getting close.
Overall, a great experience and a thoroughly productive 9-hour experience, I photographed 32 species and there were a few more I couldn't capture (some erratic hummingbirds remained elusive).
