I have been visiting Trymbak and taking darshan at this Jyotirlinga Temple for the past 20 years!
Spiritually, this place exudes a mystical aura, which makes you calm within. The Brahmagiri hills at the backdrop signify the challenges that one has to overcome in life to attain the success like the pristine clear water at the top of the hills here.
The temple dates to many centuries ago built by the Hindu Rajas. Surprisingly, it has also been attacked by the so called “Great-Mughals” with an intent of loot/ damage. Sadly, they were not successful. On second thoughts the Mughals had nothing more creative to do in their entire life other than breaking temples and looting
The entry to Garba-Gruh (sanctum-sanctorum) is permitted only to males wearing dhoti or a single loin of cloth. (No inner garments here). Blessed to have taken this opportunity.
Shivji is present with the Trinity here – Brahmaji, Vishnuji and Shivji. Trinity. Hence, Trymbakeshwar.
The temple is 30 kms from Nashik city and it takes about an hour to get darshan on a crowded day. Parking is better done in all the pay-and-park arrangements.
The place has boomed in the last 10 yrs and the influx of devotees has gone up for 300% or even more. But, our infra in and around the temple is still the old, rusty, pure, authentic and mesmerising.
Find some time after darshan to observe the minute carvings on the external walls of the temple. Each carving has a meaning, a story behind it.
Date of Experience: September 2011.
