点评：I had heard about the Skeleton Coast of Namibia, but experiencing it was at another level completely! The infamous and mythical Skeleton Coast in Namibia... Yes, there are a number of skeletons of whales and seals, but also of ships... Shipwrecks. This coast is nothing like the tropical white paradise beaches of the East Africa side - it's harsh and deadly! The currents, the (salty) fog, the waves, the scavengers (beach lions, hyenas, jackals) take its toll on everything else here. There are some 200 mapped and identified shipwrecks, but probably thousands all together. Most have disintegrated and are hardly visible anymore. Books, novels, songs have been written about this. It was cold, foggy and windy today and apparently it always is here. But it was quite the experience!
A special thank you to Charles Botna and Africa Edge Tours. Charles went out of his way to add to the experience - he knew every rock and inch if the area - he explained about the minerals found in the sand, the animals, the history of the shipwrecks, and he and his wife had prepared a lunch box of oryx meat balls, grilled chicken and a nice sandwich. Highly appreciated and highly recommended!
