点评:Located at the Bayside area just mins walk from Aomori JR sta one can’t miss the unique building with an impressive facade (covered in red metal steel beams). The entry fee is 620 Yen and one begins the tour from 2F.
It is a facility that introduces the history and charms of the Aomori Nebuta Festival. At the museum one can experience every aspect of the festival, as they introduces the history and charms of the Aomori Nebuta Festival. The first exhibition area contains photographs and videos of the history of the Aomori Nebuta Matsuri festival. Visitors walk though along a red corridor lined with images from the Nebuta Matsuri's 300 year history. There are even lanterns in the shape of red goldfish, hang along the corridor where the recorded sounds of taiko drums, flutes, and voices play.
In the 1F Main hall on display are 4 full-sized floats that participated in the festival in past August months, and Nebuta Faces that show the individuality of their respective creators.
Visitors can walk around the floats, which are changed out every year, and closely appreciate the craftsmanship behind their construction. Several hands-on and cutaway displays show the underlying structure of the floats while other exhibits show how the designs have evolved over time.
There is also footage of the exhibited Nebuta floats participating in the parade being projected onto a large screen
Nebuta Warasse also has a restaurant but they closed early at 3pm. There is also a large museum shop selling all sorts of local souvenirs and food.
There are occasional scheduled performances by "Haneto" dancers who demonstrate the unique Nebuta Matsuri dance accompanied by live music played on taiko drums and flutes. We came at 5:45pm and just missed the completion of the Day’s last session from 5.10pm onwards! What a pity.
We left with the beat of the drum still lingering…
And early-August is the actual festival, now happening in Shinmachi-Aomoi!

Nebuta Warasse
