Starfish Beach in Phu Quoc was a deeply disappointing and sad experience. What should be a natural habitat has been turned into a tourist setup with banana boats, sunbeds and crowds.
Starfish are gathered in shallow water for photos, handled by visitors and lifted out of the sea, despite being extremely sensitive animals that can die from stress, sun and human contact. This is not wildlife observation – it is exploitation.
We paid 300,000 VND per person to get there by boat (you can only visit by boat), not for a nature experience, but for an artificial attraction created for tourism.
I strongly advise against visiting. Supporting places like this only contributes to further damage of fragile marine life. I wish we had looked into this before visiting… so sad to watch humans behave like this.
