点评:My husband and I had the great good fortune to have David Gurevitch take us to various sites and neighborhoods in Jerusalem that have special relevance to the issues facing Israel today. Our tour included a birds-eye view of Jerusalem (east and west) from the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization Headquarters, which was very helpful in illustrating the topographical (and resulting political) divisions of the City. We also visited the American Colony neighborhood and Sheikh Jarrah neighborhoods. Among other things, we learned about the long-running legal and political disputes between Palestinians and Israelis over the ownership of certain properties and housing units. David’s deep historical knowledge, combined with his expertise on current geopolitics, enables him to take events that occurred decades (and even thousands of years) ago and make them relevant to events occurring in the here and now. David's ability to connect the dots between past and present, and to do so in a way that is never pedantic but always engaging, makes his tour of Jerusalem a memorable and not-to-miss experience. My husband and I enthusiastically recommend David to anyone who is looking for a deeply knowledgeable, thoughtful, intelligent, and interesting guide who knows how to make history and the remarkable sites of Israel come alive.
