点评:Christian IV's castle is a joy to behold! The building was built between 1606 and 1633 to serve as a summer home and it was opened as a museum in the 19th century. The entry is by timed ticket so you may need to wait some time - I waited for an hour! - but it gives you time to wander around the building and grounds and watch the changing of the guard! (There doesnt seem to be a cafe or similar place nearby for a quick coffee)
Once inside, the rooms are full of antiques, paintings and furniture and include the royal toilet off the bedroom!
The Knights Hall is up a circular staircase and contains the coronation thrones, tapestries and two small rooms off of the main room containing displays of Venetian Glass and Royal Copenhagen Porcelain with exquisite deocarations.
The crowning glory of the castle is the royal treasury in the basement which has the crown jewels, gold and silver and jewelled objects, and gifts to the royal family, too much to detail here!
Not to be missed!
