市立美术馆的点评
点评：We spent over one and a half hours here trying to see everything and we rushed it quite a bit so we could catch a train. It is housed in a former Benedictine convent whose gardens give a nice respite from the heat and include statues from artists such as Rodin.
The museum has an impressive art and antiquities collection. The main collection has European paintings from the 14th to mid-20th century in 35 rooms including some nice Impressionist paintings by Monet, Manet, Sisley, Pissaro and Cezanne. On the ground floor are the medieval and renaissance sculptures. The antiquities section mostly concentrates on Egyptian artifacts with minor collections from the Middle East, Greece and Italy. I quite enjoyed the Medieval collection. There is a very large coin collection. The chapel downstairs displays some large sculptures. Closed Tuesdays.
