点评:Absolutely incredible and what a lovely thought that these beautiful animals, who were forced to work long days at the temples until only a few years ago (the Cambodian government decided to retire the working elephants in 2019 when Covid hit), can now live out their lives as they are meant to. They are free to roaming around the forest, take dirt baths and swim in lakes.
They have spent all their lives with humans so do need to be fed, so one of the first things you do when there is to help prepare some food for them, particularly their favourite sticky rice, bran, tamarind, banana and salt balls which they love! We then spent time meeting and feeding 3 of the 9 who live in this park. Afterwards we just followed them through the forest watching them interact, roll, scratch, dirt bathe and rub themselves on trees. At the lake we watched them swim and frolic for a time then we all wandered back with them to have some afternoon tea and finish the day giving them a drink and a hose down.
They seem really happy and you can even catch a cheeky smile! Incredible day!!
