徐家汇天主堂的点评
点评：We left our hotel late on a Sunday morning in the middle of December 2024, and then took the subway to St Ignatius Cathedral, so that we can attend the English mass at noon. St Ignatius Cathedral is also known as Xujiahui Catholic Church or Xujiahui Cathedral, and is the Catholic cathedral of the Latin Church diocese of Shanghai. It was designed in the Neo-Gothic style by William Doyle and built between 1906 and 1910.
There are many people taking photographs outside the church. As there will be mass, the church volunteers also politely asked if we are attending mass as tourists are not suppose to be entering for viewing of the church when mass is in progress. The structure both inside and outside the church is beautiful and the choir during mass was excellent.
From our search, the mass timings are as below (but please do an independent check in case these have changed):
Mass on Ordinary Days -
Mondays to Saturdays: 6.15am & 7.00pm
Lord’s Day Mass -
Saturdays: 6pm
Sundays: 6.00am, 7.30am, 10.00am & 6.00pm; 12.00pm (English Mass)
