点评：We visited the Temple of Apollo (Tempio di Apollo) during our stay in Siracusa in late April and early May 2026 on the fourth leg of a five week visit to Sicily. This temple dates back to the 6th century B.C and is located close to the bridges connecting Ortigia with mainland Siracusa. It would perhaps be more accurate to say that we visited the site containing the ruins of the temple which nevertheless tell us a great deal about its original size, the sophistication behind its construction and the wealth and power of Greek Siracusa at that time. It is also interesting because of the striking contrast with the its more "modern" urban surroundings. While many (probably mostly tourists) stop to look, others (probably mostly locals) pass by without giving it a second glance, yet another example of how history can humble those once mighty (whether individuals, institutions, religions or human constructions). We recommend stopping by if you are in Ortigia, perhaps after visiting the nearby farmers’ market.
