点评:We visited as a family of four with a Labrador in tow. We were able to get free entry using our English Heritage membership (English Heritage Membership gets you free entry to most Cadw sites).
Dogs are welcome on the ground floors, which in a castle with tight spiral walkways seems reasonable. We explored most of the castle and found it to be well preserved, very accessible, and a stunning location to visit.
We wandered around for a few hours and took it all in. We walked around the courtyard, sat in the sun, climbed the various towers, looked over the town from the top, and looked over the castle from the restored glass balcony.
Its beautiful castle, wasn’t too busy, felt relaxed and easy to enjoy - the cafe was nice. We had a good time and really enjoyed the history and just taking it all in. If you’re in the area and have a qualifying membership - this is a good half-day out.
