Surreal and beautiful but left feeling unsettled at the lack of protection for the puffins.

点评：The island is surreal and beautiful and there were plenty of puffins and birds nesting, but this only made me more uncomfortable about the lack of protection for the wildlife and I know that the wardens do their best. It isn't within anyone's control as the island is privately owned. I went in without much knowledge about the island but left feeling unsettled at the fact that there is no barrier beyond the word of the wardens not to go close to the puffins or startle them, and to take photos from a distance. It is impossible for the wardens to manage the groups of people and there are a minority of people who do try to get close or break the rules. Some of the burrows for the puffins are literally underneath the walking trails in some spots because they don't know any better, and their primary predator (gulls) is being further attracted by people who just don't listen and eat food near the puffins. I saw visitors ignoring the rules and having food in close proximity to the puffins when the wardens were down the other end of the area.
It is a wonderful experience but take responsibility for yourself and listen to the wardens. Understand the implications of not listening.
