点评:What a moving experience.
As well as the cemetery, there is also a very detailed visitor centre. This centre was a very informative read and although I'd found out more about D-Day on my visits to numerous museums in the area, I still found out more here. Once you have finished in the centre, you go out to the cemetery. Don't miss the recreation of a grave in the sand as it would have appeared on D-Day at the end of the centre, it is very moving.
The actual cemetery was almost overwhelming. It is very hard to comprehend the huge amount of crosses, rows upon rows of white crosses and an immense loss of life. It is done so respectfully. There are paths that lead around the whole cemetery and I found it very moving at one stage to be walking along a path, to look to my left and see thousands of crosses and to then look right and see Omaha Beach.
There is a chapel in the middle, which is worth the queue to visit and also the memorial overlooking the reflecting pool. Try visiting as early as possible, as it understandably gets very busy.
