点评：GETTING HERE AND PARKING: Parking right by the fortress. Free for visitors. We had online tickets which you simply present at the entrance to take the lift up to the fortress. You can also walk up there and that ticket is cheaper, though it's a rather steep uphill walk which takes about 30 minutes (we took the lift up and down).
THE FORTRESS: You can access the courtyard and some internal spaces such as the falconry museum and exhibitions on the fortress as a film location. The rest you get to tour with a guide.
GUIDED TOUR: Included in our ticket (all inclusive ticket), and this was a huge disappointment. The spaces in the fortress are small and narrow and our group was way too large for any of us to truly enjoy it. We had to queue to see the things about which the guide was talking and half of them we didn't even get to see as we had to move on to the next room.
- Too short and very rushed. We had no time to read the signs (of which there were many) or take in what the guide was talking about. When we stopped to read or take a picture, we were ushered on by the guide or the rest of the group.
- Non-German speakers are provided with audio guides, however you don't have time to listen through one bit before it's time to move onto the next. Also, the guide talks simultaneously which adds to the rushed feeling.
BIRD SHOW: The show and the history of falconry is what took our breaths away, a true art that we knew nothing about until now. Watched it both times that day and it was nothing short of spectacular.
Overall an okay experience but probably won't come back.
TIP: Read up on the history of the fortress or watch a documentary beforehand, that way you will be less dependent on the guided tour for this information. The history is very intriguing.
TIP#2: Plan on staying for at least 3 hours, that way you have time for lunch and rest. There's lots to see.
