Steven F Udvar-Hazy Center的点评
点评：If you have even a passing interest in aviation and are anywhere in the vicinity, this has to be on your list of things to do. I personally guarantee that you will not be disappointed. The Steven F Udvar-Hazy Center is part of The Smithsonian and the collection of historically significant airplanes, helicopters, rockets, missiles, spacecraft is almost unbelievable.
We were visiting my son who lives about two hours away and one day we didn't have anything on our agenda and rain was in the forecast. While the Udvar-Hazy Center was on my bucket list, I recommended not going because I wasn't sure if my wife would enjoy it. But she and my son outvoted me, so we drove the two hours. We spent about six hours there (and I could have used an hour or two more) and we all thoroughly enjoyed it; including my wife. But be prepared to do a LOT of walking. It's all indoors and climate controlled but it is immense. Think about what it would take to house a space shuttle (Enterprise), a B-29 (Enola Gay), an SR-71 Blackbird, a Concorde SST, a Boeing 747 and hundreds more. The list goes on and on. There's also a restoration hanger where additional items are being readied for display, an IMAX theatre, an observation tower where you can watch aircraft taking off and landing at Dulles airport, a museum store and a Shake Shack where you can take a breather and get something to eat and/or drink. The cost is $15 per vehicle to park and no entrance fee. This is our tax dollars at work (partially funded by) so take advantage of it! It will not disappoint!
