Best Starting Point to Explore Florence
大教堂广场的点评
点评：Of course, a single day trip is nowhere near enough time to see anything much of Florence but sometimes that’s all you have.
If like us, you have limited time, then head straight to the Piazza del Duomo. This is the historic centre of Florence and it’s where you will find the Duomo, the Baptistery and Giotto’s bell-tower clustered together. It’s just a 15 minute walk from the train station.
The Baptistery, Duomo and surrounding piazza are the kind of breath-takingly beautiful sights that stay with you long after you’ve gone home.
On this trip, we only had a day in Florence so Piazza del Duomo was definitely the best starting point for exploring Florence. Many of the main sights are within easy walking distance (Palazzo Vecchio, Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, Mercato Centrale).
It’s free to go inside the Duomo but the lines are usually very long and you have to check in backpacks or large bags beforehand. If you have only a day then it is better to prioritise other things. In any case, it’s much more impressive from the outside.
