Come prepared
维苏威火山的点评
点评：The famous/infamous volcano we went on a combined trip of here and Pompeii, when we arrived it was only just opening thirty minutes late because there were concerns about the weather conditions very windy. Make sure you come prepared as their is very little cover and the surface is dusty and as one of our family found very slippy! Falling over just a few steps from the end and cutting their knee.
The gradient is fairly gradual and there are steps at a few spots be careful of people coming the other way there are no spaces to the side of the stairs.
At the start you are advised that guides are one kilometre up, we found the meeting point and the sign says every twenty minutes but did not spot one throughout the trip.
There are a handful of stores on the volcano with one by the crater selling drinks, sweets and tourist souvenirs.
There are numerous spots to stop and take pictures not just of Vesuvius but across the bay of Naples towards the islands (Capril and Ischia) and across to Sorrento.
You need to give a good two hours not just for the climb but to stop and take in the incredible scenery and views.
I need to reiterate come prepared for all weather conditions as just before my relatives fall we had seen someone starting the climb in flip flops good luck with that!
