Heartbreaking decline – Not the excellence I remembered

点评：Me , my husband and 4 friends returned to Matetic last week with high expectations, still carrying the wonderful memories of my visit eight years ago. Back then, every detail—from the wine tastings to the tours and the dining—was world-class. Sadly, the magic is gone.
While the hotel rooms remain comfortable and well-maintained, the hospitality experience has completely collapsed. The restaurant was a massive disappointment; the food lacked the quality and flavor I remembered, and the customer service was nonexistent. Our servers seemed entirely inexperienced, lacking the basic skills and attentiveness you expect at a destination like this.
The wine pairing was perhaps the biggest letdown. For a winery of this reputation, the pairings were shockingly poor. When we questioned the meager experience, we were told they recommend the wine pairing for dinner instead of lunch. And they are moving toward a "European style." Having traveled through Europe extensively, I can say this is a poor excuse—European pairings are defined by depth and passion, whereas this felt hollow and uninspired.
It is painful to see a place that was once so amazing fall so far. If you are chasing the memory of what Matetic used to be, you won’t find it here.
