点评:The park itself is beautiful. The squirrel trail looked quite spacious and modern from the outside; unfortunately it was closed when I went there for three days of maintenance. It was the only reason I went to the zoo to begin with. The kitsch little theme park also gave me a smile, which was rare during my time at the park.
Regarding the rest of the zoo...
The "Wetlands" section is depressing. The cages are small and look nothing like natural habitats. dirt covered concrete everywhere, a minor attempt to provide some greenery.
The rest of the zoo, slightly less depressing, but depressing none the less. Small enclosures that look nothing like natural habitats of the animals. My domesticated house cats shouldn't have more area to roam for the duration of their lives than wild cats. Sad inactive animals all over either lying down, or performing endless laps of their small enclosures.
The elephant enclosure drained my soul. It was supposed to be a celebration, but once again, a cold concrete structure completely devoid of flora that a majestic giant spent it's life crammed in is nothing to celebrate. The elephant lived its life in horrific conditions, and the best tribute would be a bulldozer.
The primates in the centre of the park, again, nothing but sadness.
I deeply regret visiting this park and walked away incredibly sad that we still use animals for our entertainment in this manner, with so little consideration towards providing a meaningful existence for them.
I'm not an animal rights activist by any stretch, but this park left me feeling hollow.
If nothing else, this park gave me a chance to reflect on the world I want to financially contribute towards. I will be avoiding all zoo's in Japan, given that this is one of the higher rated ones.
