哈尔斯博物馆的点评
点评：We had a day in Haarlem, so felt we should dutifully tick off some attractions. But with the Frans Hals museum, duty quickly transformed into delight. The moment you walk into the slick modern interior of the ancient hospital building and are given your little listening device, you know you are in for something good…
The introductory film is brilliant, explaining how, though painting in the late 16th and the 17th century, Hals's loose brushwork is a precursor of Impressionism. And indeed many of the famous Impressionists visited Haarlem on a Frans Hals pilgrimage.
Hals's own paintings are interspersed with works by his Haarlem contemporaries and also work with living artists, re-exploring similar themes to those in Hals's works.
The commentary on the device is excellent.
The museum is also family friendly. Children can even don a ruff and cavalier-style hat and have their photo taken in front of group portraits of rich, influential Haarlemites.
