Unbelievable drive!!!
Trail Ridge Road的点评
点评：Wow, this was an unbelievable drive! We drove from Estes Park to Grand Lake & back, on a Wednesday, w/ lots of stops along the way for short hikes, & to take pics. Was pretty much an 8-9 hr day! Had lunch at the Alpine Visitor Center - was crowded, but still able to find parking & a table to eat at. Lots of food options available, was kind of like a cafeteria. Had mac & cheese, sandwiches, & a cinnamon roll, which we heated up in the microwave by the soda area. Stopped for ice cream at Churro Ice Cream Shoppe in Grand Lake, which was wonderful. My teen daughters wished they would have brought swimsuits for the beach at Grand Lake - were jealous of everyone there on a hot, sunny day! Saw a mountain goat, elk, pika, coyotes, & moose on our drive. Absolutely amazing views! Unfortunately, there are quite a few areas where you are driving right on the edge of the road w/ no guardrails. Worse on the way back. My husband was trying to stay to the center line as much as he could! You are not driving at high speeds though, so wasn't too bad. The stats for Trail Ridge Road safety are pretty good, w/ not many fatalities - so you can feel good about that! I think it's worth it to face your fear to go on a road like this. So amazing! Also, the walk up the stairs to the top at the Alpine Visitor Center (12,005 ft) is no joke! It wasn't as cold as I thought it would be - about 60-65 degrees on an 85 degree day in Estes Park, but super windy! Also, you can really feel the elevation there - was huffing & puffing the whole way up - hence the name - Huffer's Hill! All in all, TRR is a must-do!!!
翻译：哇，这真是一次不可思议的驾车之旅！我们在周三从埃斯特斯帕克开车前往大湖，再返回，途中多次停下来进行短途徒步和拍照。这一整天差不多花了8到9个小时呢！我们在阿尔派恩游客中心吃的午饭——那里人很多，但我们还是找到了停车位以及可以就餐的桌子。食物选择也很多，有点像自助餐厅的风格。我们点了通心粉奶酪、三明治，还有一个肉桂卷，后来在饮料区旁边的微波炉里加热了一下。我们在大湖镇的Churro冰淇淋店买了冰淇淋，味道棒极了。我的两个十几岁的女儿真希望自己带了泳衣来大湖海滩——在这样一个炎热又晴朗的日子里，她们羡慕着所有在那里玩耍的人！一路上我们还看到了野山羊、麋鹿、土拨鼠、郊狼和驼鹿。这里的景色真是绝美至极！不过遗憾的是，有不少路段没有护栏，开车时仿佛就在路缘边缘行驶。回程时这种情况更为严重。我的丈夫尽力让车保持在道路中央线行驶！不过你的车速并不快，所以情况还算不错。小径山口公路的安全记录相当不错， fatalities很少——这一点可以让人安心！我觉得为了克服恐惧而踏上这样的路段是值得的。真是太棒了！另外，攀登至海拔12,005英尺的高山游客中心的楼梯可绝非易事啊！天气并没有我想象的那么冷——在埃斯特斯帕克，当天气温为85华氏度时，这里的气温大约在60到65华氏度左右，不过风特别大！此外，那里的海拔高度也能真切感受到——一路上我都气喘吁吁的——这也正是“Huffer’s Hill”这个名字的由来！总而言之，TRR绝对值得一去！！
