The moment we entered, the symmetry of the space pulled us in. This huge, elliptical forum—framed by 56 graceful Ionic columns—opens up like a grand stage between the Temple of Zeus above and the colonnaded streets stretching out beyond it. Standing in the middle, the city unfolds in every direction, and you really get a sense of just how important this plaza was for gatherings, markets, and daily life nearly 2,000 years ago.
