Tacky, tacky, embarrassingly tacky
Smith's Tropical Paradise Luau的点评
点评:First, let me say that my family did the luau show only. We did not eat dinner on tge property. We have visited many luaus, and with the picky eaters we had in our party, we thought it best to do the show only.
Having said that: Holy Moses! This was a shockingly outdated and tacky show, rife with stereotypes that I cannot believe anyone is still uttering in public - from fetishizing the young female dancers to gratuitously stating that Filipinos love a chicken fight, this thing had an ick factor that had our whole family face palming and slack jawing our way through the show. We visit Hawaii every other year, and have enjoyed multiple luaus on Kauai, Big Island, and Mauai. I can say that any if them were reasonably enjoyable, at least. The Smith Family Luau was a travesty. The performers all did their best to deliver the terrible content that was written for them, but the archaic show needs to be scrapped and re-scripted from scratch. It's a real shame, too, because the venue is *beautiful* and the concept of allowing show only tickets, without dinner, is very convenient. It's unfortunate that such a lovely venue is wasted on a tacky vestige of the mid-20th century. If this is the only luau you've ever been to - you've never been to a luau.
