Smack Dab in Town, Mad River bound
Waitsfield Covered Bridge的点评
点评:This covered bridge runs right through town, so when visiting, keep your eyes peeled and your kids close. It's less of a historic relic and seems more of a daily-use bridge compared to many others throughout Vermont. This was the most reinforced and largest-scaled design of the four bridges we saw (also hit Gold Brook 1844, Pine Brook 1870 and Sanderson 1840) and dates back the furthest to 1833, with some updates in the 1970’s.
Village Bridge, as the etched sign above the portal reads, carries Bridge Street over Mad River as you leave or enter town from the east. This bridge, of the four we saw, was closest to other amenities like stores, shops and restaurants in a town setting, so it might be a good idea to refuel then knock a bridge off your list, or at least see one of the most historic covered bridges without venturing too far off the beaten path.
