点评:I simply cannot say enough good things about Roger and the tour of the Ypres Salient that he put together for us. Four of my great uncles were part of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. One of them, was killed on 6 Nov 1917 in the Battle of Passchendaele - his remains have yet to be recovered. My expectations for our tour with Roger was to get a sense of what conditions were like for Canadian soldiers before, during, and after this horrific battle. Roger far exceeded my expectations. His knowledge, humor, energy, and enthusiasm brought this to life for me. Roger made a point of stopping at the "First Farm" which was the jumping off point for 2nd Canadian Battalion. It is likely my great uncle was in that area at some point in November 1917. Standing there, looking over the country side where my great uncle fought and was killed, was stunning. I will sound crazy, but I felt like my presence on this battle field gave my great uncle some closure knowing that finally a member of his family had visited his final resting place. May you now Rest in Peace Great Uncle George. Roger also gave me copies of the trench system at that time along with the certificate acknowledging my great uncles sacrifice on the Menin Gate Memorial. Thank you Roger from the bottom of my heart! Glen
