Given the options on the form and the timetable, we decided it was best to ask for a refund and not go on Sunday. The company had left a pretty bad taste in our mouths by then anyway with arguably shady behavior. A week and a half later when the ticket company got around to responding, Emerson from Etix notified me that part of the Terms and Conditions of the ticket was no refunds or exchanges.
I don't understand how anyone does business like this. What is the purpose of a reservation if it can be disregarded? Customers buying tickets at the last possible second would have a choice of the open seats, but we were assigned whatever seat was convenient. My only consolation is that hopefully my money goes towards preserving the trains so they will outlast the current management.
