点评:Called in on a ride out with a French bike enthusiast friend. Helpful security staff at the beginning suckered us in. First surprise was £58 for 2 of us but too late by then. Corralled into the first audiovisual 'experience' of waiting on a virtual starting grid being passed by poor quality images of classic cars and drivers through the ages then doors opened onto the main hall.
Lots and lots of information boards.
Downstairs to the main event - some great exhibits but the comment was, "It is very small." Barry Sheene's bikes were all just stood together with a sign saying they hadn't got round to labeling them.
Worst was again being held at the end in a cinema reminiscent of the virtual rides at Disneyland with worn out seats which vibrated. The film was a mishmash of WW2 bombers, Red Arrows, cars and bikes from the 40s to F1 all on the same start grid with a 'race' including lots of crash sequences, some in slow motion, but all like a poorly rendered video game.
Exit through the very extensive gift shop.
Perhaps it's meant to appeal to a much younger audience.
