布赖斯峡谷的点评
点评：Visiting Bryce Canyon was on my wish list for decades, but due to its location I couldn't put it in any itinerary during our 8 big US road trips over the last 20 years.
However, it appeared to be a main star of this year's 15 days mid west tour, just after the unique Yellowstone we've visited few days before.
It was a terrific sunny September day when we started our drive from Salt Lake City early in the morning. It took us around 4 hours to reach Bryce.
Before entering the park you drive through the Red Canyon which is a great intro to Bryce, where you get the idea and hint what you're about to see shortly.
Red Canyon is free, while you need to pay Bryce 35$ entry fee per car - however free if you have America the Beautiful pass I strongly recommend.
Once inside the park, FIRST DO DRIVE to the last stop and parking lot at Rainbow point - this is the southernmost part of the park, around half an hour drive from the gates.
This will reward you double:
- First it will be more convenient to pull out or park as ALL parking lots and viewing points are on your right hand driving side when going back from the Rainbow point, while when driving south to Rainbow point you have to give way for north bound traffic which is very intense,
- Second, you'll save the best for last. Best attractions of Bryce are in the northern section, closer to the gates - Inspiration Point, Bryce Amphitheatre, Sunrise and Sunset points,....
In total we spent some 6 hours in the park, from noon to 6 PM which was quite enough to see all viewing points, do some easy hikes and have an unforgettable time.
