点评：This is one of the best "regional" museums that I have visited. The collection is very extensive and very well displayed. The explanations are good though there is room for further detail and of course a second language (english for British and American tourists or french since we are next to France and Luxembourg) would be a huge bonus (but a massive undertaking). Trier was a very important city once the Romans had conquered Gaul and beyond. The town and surrounding areas have been well excavated and the finds are here from amazing funerary monuments and sculptures to wonderful mosaics, as well as the remnants of every day life. The pleasure then extends to the days of Charlemagne and the Middle Ages with a prolific collection of fibula, belt buckles, church capitals and much more. Please visit Trier and, if you do, this is a must-see destination.
