Barataria Preserve的点评
点评：This was my kids' favorite thing to do in the 5 days we spent in the New Orleans area. It's a small visitor center but does have bathrooms. Within 10 minutes on the visitor trail path, we saw a huge alligator...right beside the path. Which kind of freaked us all out. It was probably 5 1/2 - 6 ft long from snout to tip of tail. So most of our group refused to go walk past the beast since it would be 3 feet from us on a low wooden walkway and we turned out and tried another path!
The second path (Bayou Coquille)...nothing interesting. Just squirrels and bunnies which we have in our own yard at home.
The third path (Twin Canals) we saw tons of alligators and turtles the moment we left the parking lot. So that was fun. But then we walked ten more minutes and didn't see anything new. We were on a time crunch and turned around.
The fourth path we tried (Christmas Road), we saw an armadillo and then walked 5 more minutes before turning around, and my daughter found a snake 3 inches from her foot after it started hissing. It was not venomous and obviously more afraid of us than we it. It was about 3 1/2 to 4 ft long.
So if you can't find anything good on one trail, try another. I was hoping for a nutria or a wild pig but they are very rare. I felt we were lucky with what we got.
It's a shame so many of the trails have been closed because of neglect. Maybe the next administration can get our National Parks back to good conditions.

所以，如果你在一条小径上找不到什么好东西，那就试试另一条。我本来希望能看到海狸鼠或野猪，但它们非常罕见。我觉得我们很幸运能看到这些。
可惜的是，很多小径因为疏于维护而被关闭了。也许下一届政府能让我们的国家公园恢复到良好的状态。
