点评：A review of the $720 ($758 if you include the photo) Primax experience for 5 people at Delphinus Hyatt Ziva: The service was below par for what we paid for. The snorkeling was not worth the additional cost. I felt like the whole experience was rushed and based solely upon getting photos rather than spending time with the dolphins. It wasn’t an organic interaction. There was no briefing prior to the experience; it was simply “do not wear jewelry or lose items, don’t bring personal effects such as phones”. It was a whole sale tactic and we wish it was more based on our experience, enjoyment and engagement with the dolphins.
The Primax experience advertisement stated that we would get to have a “closer meaningful interaction, observe their natural behavior, learn about their unique personalities, have 15 minutes of snorkeling”. It was also made to be “fun and interactive with engaging games”. We were disappointed as the entire experience was based on getting photos. We did not get to observe their natural behavior. We didn’t even get to know their names let alone their personalities. We only witnessed them performing tricks for photos. The process was rushed and moved quickly between seconds of transition time with absolutely no leisure time to really enjoy the experience. Of course, we smiled for the photos, but we also had the dolphin trainers telling us to hurry and do x,y,z. It was like, hurry up and smile, move on, hurry up and smile. The 15 minutes of snorkeling consisted of putting a mask on and putting your face in the water floating in an L shape bent at the waist. We didn’t get to swim, we floated in place while the wind and rain blew us away. The snorkel masks were hot and hard to breathe in. Some of the mask seals were weak and let water in so you had one hand pushing the mask to seal it and the other hand trying to swim you back into your designated floating area. The game consisted of throwing a football into a ring and having the dolphins bring it back to us. Each person got 1 turn to throw the football into a ring.
I would give this experience an 2 out of 10 due to the lack of accuracy of advertisement. I don’t regret the experience shared with my family, but given the chance to pay $144 each for 45 minutes of the same interaction again, I would not. Additionally, they presented a minimum photo sales of $333 for 12 photos and the price went up gradually for more digital photos. The photo sales person asked why we declined purchasing photos and I had no hesitation telling him that it was because we had already spent $720 on a 45 minute rushed experience, so no, I’m not going to spend an additional $333 on 12 digital photos. We ultimately purchased 1 digital family photo for $38. He later offered 10 total pictures for $150 which we declined. There was also a sense of urgency added as the sales person stated the photos would basically self destruct after 15 minutes.
We learned that the 6 dolphins they have on site are all males in order to prevent breeding. They gave a short 3 minute talk about endangered species and veterinary care for the dolphins on site. It was kind of sad that so many of them had scratches and abrasions on their backs, dorsal fins and mandibles probably from scraping on their concrete walls.
All in all, I wish that we could have just had a safety briefing in the beginning and a trainer to guide us in leisurely swimming with them and petting them for 45 minutes. We couldn’t have cared less about the photos if this was an option. Had they not pushed photo sales so hard, I might have given it a better rating as well. Of course they will say the money is for veterinary care, but with 4 sessions a day and 3 groups per session, they’re making more than enough for veterinary care.
