点评：This reserve protects a remnant of the ancient Gondwana rainforests that once covered the Blackall Range. Walking the 1.7 km circuit genuinely feels like stepping into another world. It is cooler, darker, and alive with birdsong if you listen closely for the whipbird's crack. The land was gifted to the public in 1941 by three sisters in memory of their mother, Mary Cairncross, and entry is still just a gold coin donation.
A few practical tips from my visit: the walking track opens at 7 am, which is before the discovery centre opens. Arriving early means you might have the entire forest almost to yourself. Make sure to head to the Glass House Mountains lookout first, as the volcanic peaks are at their sharpest in the crisp morning light. The circuit should take you anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes at an easy pace, and the ground is mostly flat. Wildlife like pademelons are common here but never guaranteed. I didn't see any on my walk, but it was still worth every minute. You can easily combine this with the Maleny hinterland circuit for a perfect day trip from the coast.
