Visit the Tower - Fascinating!
Salisbury Cathedral and Magna Carta的点评
点评：On entering the cathedral we were greeted by a very friendly and informative volunteer guide to explain the best things to see during our visit. The self-guided tour was fascinating with the highlights of the workings of the old clock mechanism that was really well explained by a very knowledgeable volunteer guide.
I would recommend the spire/tower tour for an exceptional insight into the method of how the cathedral was built 800 years ago and the modifications (including the spire) which have been added since its completion. Modernisation goes on today with lessons learnt from mishaps to other prominent cathedrals around the UK and the world.
Despite all the recent rain, we were fortunate to have a lovely clear and sunny day. The views from the spire balconies was wonderful and the full extent of the flooded fields could be clearly seen.
I must mention our wonderful volunteer tour guide Charlie; what a wonderful happy, humorous and informative lady she is. After finishing the tower tour, she even went on to explain other lower level history aspects of interest. She deserved warm applause but due to the nature and quietness or the cathedral, could only sincerely thank her. She is a great asset to the cathedral but only performs this role (she also has a job) 2-3 times per month.
We were extremely lucky! Thank you so much for making our visit even more memorable!
