The gardens and boat trip are the real stars!

点评：We recently visited Dunvegan Castle, and while the history is interesting, the outdoor experience is what truly made the day for us.
The Castle: The interior of the castle was perfectly fine—full of Clan MacLeod history and some neat artifacts—but it felt a bit like a standard manor tour. It’s worth a quick walkthrough, but we found ourselves wanting to get back outside pretty quickly.
The Gardens: Absolutely stunning. The grounds are clearly the highlight here. They are incredibly well-maintained with a great mix of formal walled gardens and wilder woodland paths with waterfalls. We spent much more time wandering the paths than we did inside the walls.
The Boat Trip (Must-Do!): Whatever you do, take the boat trip! It was the best part of our visit. We had a fantastic time seeing the seal colony up close, and we were even lucky enough to spot dolphins during the ride. It’s a perspective of the castle you can’t get from the shore and well worth the extra bit of effort.
Overall: Go for the history, but stay for the nature. The gardens and the wildlife made this a highlight of our Skye trip!
