点评:Most museums in Florence are free on the first Sunday of each month so if you are on a budget or just looking to save a bit of cash then take this into account. It was pure chance for us that we were there at this time, but decided to take advantage of visiting the Uffizi free of charge.
Tip : Do not plan to go in the morning on a free Sunday : we headed past the Uffizi early (9am) on our way to breakfast - there were huuuuge queues winding way beyond the building almost reaching the Piazza della Signoria (Note you cannot book tickets for the free Sunday so everyone is obliged to queue) We spent most of the Sunday at quieter places in Florence and headed to the Uffizi at 4pm - we walked straight in, no queue at all.
The artwork is of course superb, and it is organised in fairly chronological order, and each room and most artworks/sculptures well signposted. The only downside is that there are few places to sit and contemplate the art and viewing the major pieces such as the Michelangelo’s/DaVinci’s/Boticelli’s involves muscling though large crowds, which is a shame. The collection of Roman sculptures is not to be missed - many seem to use the long gallery simply as the corridor to access the major artworks (and the cafe), but we would definitely recommend pausing here to view the many and varied Emperors and Gods, particularly as this area tends to be a bit less crowded.
