A superb museum, although it helps to be able to read Spanish.

点评：This is a superbly done museum dedicated to the pre-Spanish inhabitants of the Canaries, but understandably with the focus on Gran Canaria.
The displays include the famous mummies and skulls, but also much material about daily life including pottery, stone tools for a variety of purposes, recreations and models of various scenarios including cave art and use of plant fibres to make fabrics.
Being a maths teacher, I was fascinated by their use of geometrical motifs in a variety of contexts.
All displays are clearly explained in Spanish, but I couldn’t get the audio guide app to work until after I had left the museum, when it mysteriously started! Luckily my Spanish reading is good enough that I could explain key points to my husband.
There is a small shop at the exit which has some books in English and German as well as Spanish, as well as souvenirs. There are toilets at the rear of the entrance hallway, clearly marked.
