点评:Located about a 5min walk down the road from the Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor, so it is easier to get to. This museum is really worth visiting if you want to learn about the history of the Khmer empire. It is open seven days a week from 8:30am to 6:30pm. The entrance ticket costs $12, and an audio guide is available for an additional $5. We found that it was easy to navigate through each of the eight galleries and the descriptions/narrations were sufficient without the audio guide. If you want to full explore and appreciate all the galleries it will take you over 2hrs, at least.
It is well laid out and professionally curated, with clear descriptions in English. I found that the displays of the sculptures and buddha images were breathtaking, with works sourced from the Cambodian National Museum in Phnom Penh. The galleries have modern audio-visual multimedia which elevate your experience/exploration. You can take photos, but videos are not permitted.
The interior of the building is architecturally impressive, with spiral ramps around a central atrium and another courtyard with a reflecting pool, letting in plenty of natural light.
The museum has a real good gift shop, with plenty of quality traditional craft and art on sale. The cafe is mainly limited to freshly made drinks, so don't expect much food options.
This museum is worth visiting before you explore Angkor Thom and the surrounding temples, so you can appreciate the context and their history.
