点评:I managed to hike the historic Camel path (Aljammalah trail) downhill, and it is a fantastic experience. However, be aware of the logistics...
I parked my car at the cable car station at the top of the mountain, finding out that there is no way to hike to the start of the trail. The trail literally starts from the highway a bit down. You have to take a taxi to the start of the trail. Next issue: the taxi driver didn't know this trail. Also, it is not marked or signed! Fortunately, it is very precisely marked on Google Maps, so use this to direct the taxi driver. Jump out at this spot (you are still on the highway) and go over the road divider, and yes, trust me, here you will immediately see the trail.
The above means I strongly recommend you to take the trail only downhill. If you take it uphill, it means you have to cross the highway (too dangerous) and somehow need to find/stop a car to get to the top.
The trail itself is fantastic, quiet, and well signed. The path used big stones, so watch your steps. Also, bring enough water etc etc. Just in line with any other mountain trail.
When you are downhill at the end of the trail, you encounter the next smaller logistical challenge; also, here the trail stops at the highway. But here there is an alternative: follow the dry river bed under the highway bridge, and turn immediately right. There is a small old road downhill to the cable car station. The road is sometimes washed away by the river, so you have to cross the river bed a few times, but all doable.
Finally, at the downhill cable car station, I found the last logistical challenge - there is no ticket booth here. But the guys let me on the cable car, and I paid upon arrival.
People say it takes you 3-4 hours, but it took me 1h40.
