点评:The Kent Battle of Britain is an unassuming museum, tucked away in the streets of Hawkinge, that has so much to offer the aviation enthusiast. And if you are obsessed with the Battle of Britain, as I am, it will exceed any expectations you have. It is both museum and memorial, a unique collection of replica and authentic machinery and memorabilia covering all aspects of the battle. It is a detailed record of the personal stories of the men who lived and died on both sides of the conflict. There are items here, minute, large, sometimes unrecognisable pieces of aircraft, that kept in a drawer or garage at home would mean little, but compiled, researched and displayed with other pieces tell compelling, memorable stories and honour those who deserve to be remembered. A single visit could never do it justice - there is just too much to see, too many stories worth reading. But it doesn't break the bank to visit, so unless you're like me and live on the other side of the world, you can afford to go back many times. I'll envy you that, but am grateful that I made it at least once in my lifetime. And I am so grateful for the work of the volunteers who staff and keep this museum alive.
