点评:It was time for a family trip up Pen-y-Fan yesterday, so off we went. We'd decided to take the most straightforward path, a.k.a. "the motorway" to reach the summit which is popular with walkers of all abilities. Unfortunately we also found ourselves walking in the wake of storm "Amy", with very strong winds buffeting us alternatively helping or hindering our progress.
The track is very easy to follow and easy to walk, notwithstanding the fact that you are walking up a mountain, so don't expect a stroll.
On reaching the false summit plateau we were welcomed with the full force of the storm with wind speeds around 60mph. I'm no lightweight, but found it very difficult to stand up in the face of the wind so we decided to call it a day and retrace our steps to the car park.
Thanks to the winds, there was excellent visibility all around and the views were well worth the climb.
