点评:There are over 40 castles, fortresses and ruins in these 65 km. between Coblenz and Bingen, due to time issues we just had the time to visit one so eeny meeny miny moe and let’s say, most probably we chose well!
Earliest registers from this castle dates back from the XIV century then the Prussian regnants purchased (XIX century) and reconstructed (most of today’s appearance), stayed in German nobility possession until the 1970’s when it was sold to a family that still owns the place.
The castle offers some hospitality service (3 rooms) and a cafeteria (self serve) with river views. They produce their own wine (vineyard monorails are visible); we had the grape juice which was super sweet! What it really impressed me was how they optimized every space possible to fit everything in a vertical area apart of the beautiful structure and the strategic position.
P.S. wear very comfy shoes, the path to the castle from the road is very steep
