A Magical February Day Trip: Stunning Fountains and Serenity at Villa d'Este

点评：My friend and I took a day trip from Rome to Tivoli this February specifically to see Villa d'Este, and it did not disappoint! The Renaissance gardens and fountain engineering are mind-blowing. While the frescoes inside the villa are beautiful, the real star is the multi-tiered garden with its endless cascading fountains.
A few tips for visiting in February:
The perks of off-season: The best part about visiting in February is the lack of crowds. We had the famous "Avenue of the Hundred Fountains" almost to ourselves for photos. It was incredibly peaceful to just walk around and listen to the rushing water.
Chase the sunshine: February can be chilly, but we lucked out with a bright, sunny day. The winter sun hitting the mist from the fountains actually created several mini rainbows—absolutely breathtaking! If you go on a cloudy day, make sure to bundle up as the moisture makes it feel colder.
Logistics: It’s an easy train ride from Rome, followed by a short walk to the villa. Because it's winter, some of the tourist-centric restaurants in Tivoli were closed for the season, so I'd recommend checking maps beforehand to find a cozy local trattoria that’s open.
Even though the foliage isn't as lush in winter, the dramatic water features and the tranquil vibe made it a 10/10 experience. Highly recommend!
