Great experience but take good shoes and an umbrella

点评：Calton Hill is one of those must-see spots in Edinburgh — the views are absolutely breathtaking. From the top, you get a sweeping panorama of the city, Arthur’s Seat, the castle, and even out towards the Firth of Forth. It’s an incredible place to take photos, watch the sunset, or just sit and soak in the atmosphere. The monuments and architecture up there — especially the National Monument and Nelson Monument — make it feel like you’re standing somewhere truly special.
That said, a little advice: be prepared for the weather! It can get very wet and windy up there, even when the rest of the city feels calm. Bring an umbrella or a waterproof jacket, and wear shoes you don’t mind getting muddy — the paths can be slippery, especially after rain, and not all the floodgates are clear.
If you’re visiting in the evening, keep in mind it gets super dark and isn’t well lit, so a small torch or phone light helps if you’re walking back down after sunset.
Despite the weather and a few muddy patches, Calton Hill is 100% worth it — a truly iconic Edinburgh experience that captures the magic and drama of the city from above.
