点评:We visited the Castle and really liked the playground, that felt like a medieval castle and Robin Hoods layer in one, we tried virtual Archery like Robin in the basement, enjoyed good Bean-Chilli in the cafe on the castle's balcony with a stunning view over Nottingham and liked especially the painting- and photo-exhibitions. The museums shop was a delight and we bought postcards and Jigsaw from our favourite paintings, but were also tempted to get some felt autumnal decorations or swords and armour for dressing up.
The absolute highlight for us was the Brewer's Yard, a hidden Gem sitting on the foot of the castle rock. We almost missed it because it is outside of the castle. A number of historic houses, that made life in the lace industry and the people who made them come alive. Every house represented a different time and a different family. They had costumes you could wear, everything could be tried out and touched and you could visit the caves behind the houses. Guide Ophelia Dickens was breathtakingly lovely and interesting and insightful and passionate and went full history-and lace-making-nerd. She turned this visit into the highlight of the whole Castle-experience. Six stars for Ophelia and the Brewers Yard !
