Okay enough, but nothing essential.
McClelland Gallery & Sculpture Park的点评
点评:I think my overall experience here was fine overall, but with some aspects that could have been better. The art itself was interesting, it's a pleasant thing to walk around a park and take in the sculptures. Some i liked more than others such as the giant rusty metallic ram skull and the massive metallic gnome was fun.
Where the experience is let down for me was the park could do with a little sprucing up. For instance one of the main things is so many of the information plaques for the artworks clearly need to be redone, some you can't even read and there was even one that was missing entirely. Another aspect was some of the works could do with some cleaning. It's obvious that they've been put in place with little further care shown to them.
I spent about 45 minutes here as a solo visitor. You could easily spend more time with company, but when you're on your own there's only so much seeing everything you can do. You can spend a decent enough couple of hours leisurely walking around. I went shortly after they opened on a public holiday day and the crowd was fairly minimal.
A note for solo visitors on foot though is you actually buy admission tickets ($15AUD) from a small booth at the end of the driveway upon entering the site. I was standing waiting behind a couple of cars feeling a bit awkward. The girl at the ticket booth was very nice and helpful.
If you're interested in art i'd say it's moderately worth going. There's a few decent works of art and the setting is nice enough. It'd be nice if they put some of the admission earnings towards new plaques & such though. I think if you're paying to enter a sculpture park, especially when there are free ones out there, a little going-the-extra-mile is expected.
